Highland Games

Royalty Overseeing the Games.
Another year has come and gone, and back we went near the end of
February to attend the
42nd Annual Scottish Gathering and Highland Games at Mesa Community College. We
didn't spend much time there this year, but we took in a few things we
liked to do. First thing on our list was lunch -- Nan
had a Meat Pie while I had a Shepard's Pie. We then wondered over to
the sporting events and watch for a few minutes as the guys did some
weight-throwing and caber tossing. We didn't watch the hammer toss
and other competitions, nor the ladies doing about the same thing.

Throwing a heavy ball weight for
distance.

Caber-tossing is always a favorite of
mine. I think the phone company could learn a thing or two
regarding quick ways to install new telephone poles!
We spent most of our time this year sitting under a tent being
entertained by groups and individuals as they performed old Scottish
tunes and a few new things of mixed ancestry. If they were indeed
"old" to begin with. We really enjoyed the Tartan Terrors and
their antics. I uploaded a video cut of that group, and although
it's rather large and may take some time to load for you, please click
on the below picture or HERE and
enjoy the music!
Remember:
The movie file is over 3MB and may take a few minutes to load. You
may have time to go pop some popcorn!

The Tartan Terrors from Toledo were a
lively group! See Video!!!
