San Diego's Balboa Park.
We like going to San Diego, as there are always interesting
places to go and see. This is a park in the middle of the
city. A world exposition took place here, around the beginning of
the last century, and the buildings and zoo in this park were a result of
it. We visited a couple of museums here, took in the sites, and
enjoyed people watching. Many of the children were on school trips
the day we were there, and they all seemed to really be having fun.
Of course, getting out of school for the day probably had nothing to do
with that!!
Another building on the promenade
The old Spanish style has a lot to do with the fact most of Southern
California was first explored by Spanish Conquistadors. In intricate
artwork on the buildings was much in the style of the old world
founders.
Fountain
It was so refreshing sitting by this water
fountain. We got to the park a little early and had to wait for the
museums to open--this place made the wait worth the visual rest. |
