Down - wet duck down - in Fain Park

One of the first things newcomers  notice about local  news in Arizona is that weather is many times a major news topic.  Many television news programs lead with weather, especially when it rains!  Therefore, staying with this tradition, I'd like to share with you that last Saturday (April 6), we had our first rainstorm of the season.  Many of you may think, "So?".  Well, so it was the first rain since last year, thus a big deal for everyone living in our usually dry climate!  Most folks were happy to see the rains as gardens were really in dire need this Spring.  You may notice that there are no people in my Fain Park scenes.  Usually fisherman fill this  Prescott Valley park every day.   As I was setting up to photograph the park, there were some fishermen leaving.  I mentioned that I didn't think the fish would mind getting a little wet, so why were they giving up?
"I don't want to catch a cold", one fisherman said.   I wondered what a Michigander would do in such a case..... True, it was about 58 degrees that day, a bit nippy for some folks to be out.
On the days since,  the weather has been mostly dry and windy with temps  into the 70's and 80's, which is about normal for this time of year. The diehard fishermen are back.
As you can also see from my next picture, the Flea  Market was also a bust.  There's usually about 100-200 merchants peddling there unwanted products.  Several hundred more folks come to seek out some real deals each weekend.  Not this day, they could all catch their death, you know...
By the way, the big hill in the background for my second flea market picture is called Glassford Hill. It's actually taller than it looks.  US Pony Soldiers used to climb to the top regularly with mirrors so they could signal other mountain topped troops with news and information on various subjects in our area.  Probably stuff like "Is it raining over there yet?"......
