Tina & Dawn Yazzie.

When visiting the Grand Canyon, many travelers can find lots of trinkets and souvenirs at all the shops on and off the National Park land.  Those who want something really special to remember their visit to the American Southwest should make their shopping stops at any of the Indian shops or stands which frequent the major roads around the state.
One we stopped at recently and found some wonderful items is about 14 miles east of the east entrance to the south rim of the Grand Canyon, and about 18 miles west of the intersection of 89(n) and 64(e) highways.

Pam Yazzie

Sisters Dawn and Vertina (Tina) Yazzie have been running their family businesses from this location for many years, contracting from local Navajo artists their fine Arts and Crafts.  Another sister, Pam, has also opened a booth with them, as well as other relatives and friends all offering fine items in their respective booths.  Each person has their own area and business venture.  Tina calls her "company" Yazzie Girl Arts & Crafts, while Dawn is Bahazhoni - Navajo Artifacts, Arts & Crafts. Ask Dawn about her name, you'll understand more about Dawn once you do!!!  (Pam didn't have a card or business name at the time we visited, I don't think...... can't remember..... sigh.....) Prices are very reasonable for all the works, and you know you'll be buying something handcrafted with pride from the people of this land.
If you have any questions about the artists, designs, or products, you can be sure the ladies will be very happy to tell your everything you want to know!  We had an enjoyable time chatting with the Dawn and Tina, and will be sure to stop next time we take our family and friends to visit the canyon!
